    How to play

    Get him out. Maybe.

    1. Tap his parts. Ears, nose, teeth, eyes, curls, top knot. Each one makes a sound.
    2. Four taps make one try. Get the order right and a lock opens.
    3. Find the clues. They hide in the videos and on every lock card.
    4. Unlock tools. Open 3 locks for the lamp (lights the parts in a clue), 4 for the sock puppet (he performs the clue once a day), 5 for the tune (the clue as a melody).
    5. Bring a helper. Invite one friend into your box. Taps from either of you count.
    6. The pill. Tap it for the menu. Hold it and the clue for your lock pops up with its sounds tappable. Tap the little box on it to fold it into a bubble at the edge; tap the bubble to bring it back. Drag it anywhere.
    7. Things in the room count. In a story’s room, items like the pot lid or the phone make their own sounds and can be part of a code.
    8. Make your own. Nine characters (four women), styled how you like, ten rooms, locks that fill themselves in. Remix anyone’s story from its menu.
    9. Play without data. Add The Box to your home screen (menu, Add to home screen; on iPhone: Share, then Add to Home Screen). The daily works offline and syncs later.
    10. Make your own. Pick a character, pick where they're stuck, set the locks, share the link.
